I have really fallen out of love with these guys. Hope this can bring me back, will give it a shot.

 

The last album was phenomenal, have you listened?

 

I get this. They've been on that same album cycle/greatest hits shows now for over six years. Long time in between albums.

Cheer Up was the last album of theirs I really loved, but Candy Coated Fury was a big improvement over everything they released since then. New song is solid.

 

This somehow seems a lot more “mature” but also retains their humor and not taking themselves too seriously.

I am here for it!

This album is a blast!!!

 

interesting that the last 4 songs are all just straight up slower reggae. Not bad at all, just surprised they didn't spread them out throughout the record.

I could see them thinking "no ones gonna make it through the full album so lets just put all the slow songs at the end" haha

 

Theyve been hyping this up a lot and idk...first listen made me think it's just an average rbf album. Was hoping for something a tad new sounding

 

“I’d rather get it wrong” is the best thing on here. Change of pace to have a genuinely sweet love song from them.

Also like Tongue Tied, it’s very Dude Ranch.

 

When they were doing the Turn The Radio Off anniversary shows, they warned the crowd “here’s the songs on the record none of you listened to” when they got to the suuuuper ska and raggae end of the album haha. Probably similar case here like you said.

 

Like any post-Scott RBF album there are some great songs and some cringeworthy ones as well. Like it more than Candy Coated Fury though - some of the songs on that one were just wayyyyy too long.

Actually liked the slower reggae stuff towards the end.
