it's because he's in less movies like knives out and chooses to play rebooted buzz lightyear and whatever that netflix/apple tv+ thing was since it clearly cuts him a higher salary
Get that bag while he can! Then use that clout and get smaller projects that he's passionate about green lit.
Evans seems like he cares much more about how many digits are in his salary over boosting some project with an acclaimed director. Of this group, Simmons is more disappointing. He spent so long building up his career but since Whiplash he hasn't really done much worthwhile.
Who is the biggest actor to never be in a good movie? Fast Five is probably the Rock's best movie except for the Southland Tales apologists.
Didn’t Chris Evans want to shift to directing more? Surprised he hasn’t done anything else in the last 10 years, especially with his MCU commitments basically being done now.
My fave DJ films and performances by him r the following : Pain & Gain The Rundown Central Intelligence Jumanji 2 and 3 Moana Snitch Walking Tall Fast Five (favourite Luke Hobbs performance of the franchise) Southland Tales Gridiron Gang Be Cool (movie was bad but he was by far the best thing in it) Favourite performance of his on TV was on the show Ballers.. legitimately really good performance from him. But the last few films he seemed to be on autopilot for the massive pay day and surrounds himself with a bunch of yes people and no one is calling him out on his recent choices of roles but I really hope Moana 2, the live action version in 2026 and in particular The Smashing Machine written and directed by Benny Safdie for a24.. if that film goes the way I hope it would go.. we could potentially see serious awards consideration for DJ big time.
Just a tremendous misread of The Rock’s diminishing star power and what people want in a Christmas movie.
Major misfire.. honestly if The Smashing Machine goes the way I hope it does then he just stick to dramatic roles in smaller films for the foreseeable future because this pg13 4 quadrant films r just not working for him lately.. Moana 2, The Smashing Machine, the live action Moana film and Jumanji 4 r gonna a big test for him career wise because he needs a win desperately.
Moana 2 will definitely be one of the biggest movies of the year. I assume Jumanji will do well and Smashing Machine will maybe bring back some of that curiosity he had when it came to his acting career before he became just a living muscly advertisement.
