so far pleasantly surprised. “she’s a lover” seems to be indulging a chic org influence. “these are the ways” is prob my favorite so far after “aquatic mouth dance” though i can’t tell how much it’s bc i’ve been starving for more energy. it does have awesome breakdown riffs + an implacable weird indie-power-pop vibe
by the way has their only remotely listenable songs and that's basically his brainchild so I give him some credit but he simply isn't the same level of guitarist as flea is a bassist
Listened to this last night and definitely enjoyed it. Basically seems like a slightly more concise Stadium Arcadium.
I'm a fan and to me all their best albums are with Frusciante. Also the tours with Josh were noticeably inferior to the tours I have seen with John. Just my 2 cents. Cautiously optimistic for the new album, have read some negatives but all from people who seem like they are non fans who just want to mock them, so those reviews are meaningless to me. PS - those rankings somebody posted are bad. Stadium Arcadium in last place??
I've seen them 3 times with John and 3 times with Josh. I think the later tours being "inferior" are really just due to the band getting older and more calculated/studied in their approach. Additionally, I think for Josh (and really anyone who would have stepped into that role who wasn't coming from another superstar band) probably might have felt awkward and taken on a more of a hired gun role as opposed to a full partner when it came to songwriting which might explain why his parts were usually complimentary.
lol none of the negative reviews i've seen have been mocking the band. absolutely zero. bizarre comment.
Y’all oughta send RHCP an invoice for all the back rent you’ve should be charging them for living in your heads.
people can't clown on bands they dislike without being told said bands are 'living in their head rent free', wild also Kiedis is an admitted statutory rapist so I can't imagine why people still go to bat for this band
