Some guy came up and kicked me while I was looking at the catalog so I shot his head off. I’m riding a wild adrenaline high after that.

 

Have you finished the tutorial and done the mission where you steal the horses yet? I was alone until after that mission.

 

i have. been playing around in the series mode, tho. no one talks there.

Man open chat has got me so much less excited for the online on this. Hopefully there’s a way to turn it to private chat only (or that they patch that option in soon).

Got spawn killed like 10 times in a row by the dude who kept calling me racist slurs so I think I’m done with this game for a while. At least the first couple hours were kinda cool, I guess...

 

That's good news that it can be turned off. Shame that there's already a load of toxic people playing it.

 

Finished the main story including the epilogue tonight. Full spoilers ahead



I think this may be the best prequel story I've ever experienced, period. I can't think of a single piece of media that so perfectly sets up the thing it's a prequel to in a way that it makes the original a million times better. Seriously, after I finished the game I watched most of the cutscenes from RDR1 again on Youtube and it felt like a completely different game now, in a great way. I actually envy people that started with this one and now get to play RDR1 as a direct sequel. Definitely solidified John Marston as one of my favorite characters ever.

This is probably one of the best games I've ever played. I was gripped from the very beginning and absolutely couldn't wait to play more whenever I wasn't playing. Arthur's development as a character was masterful, as was Dutch's gradual descent into madness. Graphics and animations are maybe the best I've ever seen, characterization and storytelling is masterful, and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful.

So, so happy how incredible this game turned out to be, and legitimately bummed that it's over and I can never play it for the first time again.

 

well i just finished the first red dead, i'm not crying at all. time to throw in 2!

 

I rewatched a load of the cut scenes from the first RDR yesterday as I need a refresh as i got closer to the end of 2 and inevitable tie in. I forgot how tense and sad the ending is. No wonder I never went back to it.

 

Still not done with 2 yet but the sequence where jack gets kidnapped and when you’re trying to get him back and John says something about not being a great father to him that shit hit hard

 

I'm on the fence about trying Online, and it's stuff like this that makes me want to skip it. I like the idea of doing co-op missions with my actual friends in a posse, but if it's more PvP stuff, I'll pass.

 

Ya online doesn't sound that fun. Sounds like you'll just get randomly shot by people.

I’ve played waaaaaaaaaay too much GTA online, so I’m kinda used to that!

 

Gta didn’t have one shot kill headshots with deadeye... plus you had cars that could drive away fast and protect you for most bullets. Now if you manage to avoid getting headshotted, your horse fucking runs into a damn tree and dies leaving you to get spawn killed repeatedly.

If they removed player markers from the map for even like 10 seconds after respawn it would make a world of difference.
