I like a lot of the more boppy, bombastic material, so I think at this point Tin Drum is my favourite Japan album and Brilliant Trees is my favourite of his solo albums. The journey of deconstruction he went on with his solo material I'm trying to get my head around though. An album like Manafon is a trip when stripped of the context of all the records that came before.
I’ve only listened to Tin Drum and Spirit of the Beehive before, both great records. Dude was very prolific. I’ll check out Brilliant Trees next and continue making my way through his discography. Did you like his Fripp collabs?
Yet to make my way to them. Before very recently I was only really au fait with Japan and the first few solo albums. Still blind to a fair bit of his oeuvre.
Excellent Norwegian post-rocky ambient-jazz album Also this 90s album is dope- sounds like a mix of Talking Heads, Sonic Youth, and early emo
