Particularly digging this track off the new Tourist x Gold Panda collab.

    No thank you.

The Supervoid Chorale Ensemble. Two piece featuring members of Cloudkicker and Gospel. Frantic, heavy instrumental deliciousness.

    latest obsessions

    Paul Marcano/The Light Dreams - 10,001 Dreams (1982)

Home-recorded, fuzzed-out, dreamy Canadian prog/space-rock album, splashed with a 60’s and 70’s folk influence. There's a 36 minute ambient/instrumental track that invents an entire world in itself. Whole thing sounds a bit like The Durutti Column collabing with The Beatles.

    The Tree People - S/T (1979)

Obscure psychedelic folk from the late 70's, recorded in a studio in the Oregon woods.

Elizabeth Cotten - Freight Train and Other North Carolina Folk Songs and Tunes (1958)

Truly pure American blues/folk album by a self-taught left-handed guitarist whose style was playing a right-handed guitar upside-down. A lot of instrumental picking that is downright gorgeous. Feels like listening to something enscribed in the American mythos in a way.

greetings, y’all! first post in this thread but probs not the last. i didn’t know it existed until today!

    Flower Face - Girl Prometheus
melancholic, orchestral indie folk produced by Marcus Paquin (Julia Jacklin, The Weather Station, Stars). it feels familiar yet fresh. side B is an incredible run of tracks.

short and sweet, 1972 solo guitar jazz album from a Brazilian legend. airy and enchanting.

1985 ambient/experimental art-rock supergroup sort of thing from Belgium, featuring Durutti Column and others.

gorgeous compilation of songs by an Angolan singer/songwriter from the 80's. beautiful acoustic guitar and jazzy rhythms throughout. a wonderful mix of African and Latin sounds, and interesting historical context from the Bandcamp description

"Fourth-world" ambient pioneer Jon Hassell's 1994 instrumental hip-hop album. If you listen to this dude's other stuff, you'd never see this coming. Basically a huge departure from the ambient-jazz/ECM-type stuff of the rest of his catalogue, but still with a signature dreaminess about it. This is funky, sexy, and complex in all the right ways. Not on any streaming service at the moment, but it's on Youtube. Would kill for this to be pressed on vinyl or at least released more widely.

Coolest, fluffiest track in the world here. Seems to have disappeared from Spotify over here so YouTube it is:

looking for some very specific recommendations. wanting to work on a playlist that compiles non-religious music with almost a religious musical bend to it. like a reclamation of the sorts of sounds typical to Evangelical worship music, but with lyricism that's either antithetical, more broadly contemplative, or in a direct, critical response to those sorts of platitudes. this is partially inspired by Father John Misty referring to his song Screamland as "mutilated Hillsong", but i've also heard some other music that feels like it could work in this context. still, i'd be interested in some recommendations if anyone's got them.
