Your friendly neighborhood Taco-King has recently enjoyed the new Architects song "Gone With The Wind"
Saw Bane one last time last night so I've listening to a bunch of their stuff. Also JEW's Chase This Light
Been listening to April and Lost Verses Live by Sun Kil Moon and Mark Kozelek, respectively, as well as Foxing and Joyce Manor's discographies.
I'm obsessed with the Right Away Great Captain Live album. It is by far my favorite release from the project. His voice is incredible on this, I think people are going to be really impressed when they hear it.
Today I learned that Travis Morrison from The Dismemberment Plan released a solo album in 2004 that got a 0.0 score from Pitchfork. It's an odd album (which I sort of expected), a little long and meandering, and certainly no Emergency and I, but I also don't think it's the travesty Pitchfork made it out to be. I thought this article about the album was pretty interesting too. It has be weird to have an album you made be more notable for a single review of it than for the album itself.
Really digging the new Lumineers album. Not very different from their self-titled, but their sound seems more mature. Also have had a hard time pushing stop on Weezer's White Album. Just a really fun album.
The Falcon "Gather Up the Chaps" I just saw them this past Friday Into It. Over It. - Entire discography, really. Getting ready for the Lincoln Hall show at the end of the month.
Which is why Pitchfork is a joke and should be treated as an insult to music. I can't imagine why anyone who loves music and cares about it as an art form would listen to anything Pitchfork says.
Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - Mariner This is the most I've enjoyed a Cult of Luna in awhile. Love the melodic edge Julie brought to the table here and her vocals fit well with the music. Great contrast.
Spun "Through Being Cool" by Saves The Day today for the 1st time in ages. Forgot how good this thing was.
I've been listening to the album "Management" by Delta Sleep on repeat for the last couple days. Before that it was "Get Olde/Second Wind" by Crying.
We all just had an anniversary of a great day from 10 years ago when Moneen released "Red Tree", and Saves The Day released "Sound The Alarm" - I'm planning to sit down with both of them at once within a few days. Currently listening to Koji at the office. At this moment it's his split with IIOI, to be more precise :)
