cwhit listened to Pink Moon for the first time almost a week ago and didn't report back. Boyyyyyyyyyyy
i said in the original post i wasn't choosing to do reviews for every record i listened to also did not listen to pink moon yet, but i did listen to astral weeks!!!
what makes you say that? i listened to it for the first time recently myself, i think it's very immediate and really impressive. the sparseness makes it easier to digest in a single listen imo.
oh, hah i guess we just process the sparseness differently. i was gonna ask if that was why but then i saw your avi and i was like "nah that can't be why" lol
In honor of Rod Stewart's birthday, you should throw the fan-fucking-tastic Every Picture Tells a Story to your list. (Though that Faces album also covers Rod's glory days quite well)
i've fallen behind with adding things to the list but when work cools down a bit i'm going to go back through the list and add the newer additions, i've continued listening though!
For anyone who wants to put their money where their mouth is on listening more to artists that aren't white men: Fanny - Mother's Pride One of the first all-female rock bands signed to a major label (and the first one to actually release an album). And it gets you bonus cred points because Todd Rundgren produced it. Bowie on them: "One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. And that is Fanny. They were one of the finest fucking rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary. They wrote everything, they played like motherfuckers, they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody's ever mentioned them. They're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time. Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done."
keeping the list updated as i go through! i'm skipping around, haven't added new things in a bit though but once this one i have gets a little less intimidating i'll add more. now that new releases have started being good i've had to add those into my listening but i'm still going on this, don't worry! @nohandstoholdonto holy shit this first song on that tears for fears record whoa
Cwhit comes in to say he listened to Astral Weeks then dips smh this project is a failure I take all my recs back
i liked it, i had heard a decent bit of it before (age of consent obviously) and it's a good record but didn't blow me away
:))))) Glad you like it, the second track is my favorite by a pretty wide margin, but I love the whole record.
