I cant even say this is fine Snyder slop, because usually his visuals are at least fun to look at but everything looks like shit here on top of some of the worst dialogue and delivery I've heard in ages and a story that rips off of like 5 different things in the most surface level ways possible.
needed to watch this in three sittings. that bad. what the hell. i was hoping snyder would still make a good movie under the netflix machine since army of the dead was okay, but instead this is his weakest film. i'm hearing that this was likely chopped to pieces as a way of reverse engineering another better cut of his film, but we'll see. i mean, if you bother to
Maybe he made it so bad in an attempt to save the world from the Snyder Cult hoping that even they couldn't defend it
I’m waiting until both parts’ director’s cuts are out before watching. Which means I gotta wait several more months before swooping in with “actually, nerds, this shit was dope af” (unless I ended up not liking it, but I doubt that)!
I don’t get all the hate for this… only half way through and I’m enjoying it. Sure it’s far from original, but not much is in the sci-fi realm these days.
Outside of the lack of any original thought? The dialogue was dreadful, the set designs and most of the character designs were so unimaginative, and nearly every character just felt like the same stoic bore. I don’t hate Synder. I like some of his work and was hoping to like this but it was an absolute chore.
I like Snyder's stuff more than most, but unfortunately this was a slog. Wasn't expecting much from the story or script, but not even the visuals or action really drew me in. Even though Snyder likes to shoot his own movies now, this could've benefitted from a Larry Fong or another cinematographer that can capture whatever he's seeing in his head. Maybe it's the Netflix effect, but I thought this looked pretty bland and green-screeny. It's nice to see Charlie Hunnam and Ray Fisher though I guess.
Really wanted to like this because I want more big budget sci-fi epics, but I'm with the consensus here: It's not good. The one nice thing I can say is that the plasma effect on the blaster shots looked really cool.
watching this now, love how this is sooooo anime. 80’s anime ova specifically… the technology designs, the setting being a rushed amalgamation of every “cool american fantasy sci-fi story”, the terrible dialogue!!
Yes I’m sure all those autoplays are counted as views. But how many people actually watched the whole thing and didn’t fall asleep or leave the room to do laundry
Zack Snyder is just such a delightful, unique individual, lol. Keep doing what you’re doing, dude. Truly one of the dudes whomst rock the most.
a lot of people haven't even watched part 1 yet since its not the 'complete' version of the movie. The cut they released was an incoherent mess. Don't think thats changing in this half and thats why Im skipping it for now.
Part 2 is as bad or maybe even worse than Part 1. There's no emotion or investment whatsoever in these characters, which they try to build by giving everyone an extended flashback, but all of those flashbacks are shown consecutively in one sequence that totally stops the movie and goes on so long that it felt like an Adult Swim bit.
