Rebel Moon is an upcoming epic science fiction adventure film by director Zack Snyder, director of Zack Snyder's Justice League and the "Desolation Row" music video, to be released by Netflix. The story (by Snyder, Shay Hatten, & Kurt Johnstad) is based on a decade-old pitch for a potential Star Wars movie, which Snyder decided to adapt into a new franchise. "The story is set in motion when a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate, the colonists dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand." The film stars Sofia Boutella with Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, Jena Malone, Stuart Martin, Ed Skrein, Cary Elwes, Cleopatra Coleman, Corey Stoll, Fra Fee, Michiel Huisman, Alfonso Herrera, E. Duffy, Sky Yang, & Rhian Rees. Junkie XL will compose the score.
That looks so cool. I’m pretty optimistic at the moment that this is gonna lean enough into Snyder’s best tendencies to be a blast.
The five-to-ten seconds of footage in Netflix’s 2023 movies-that-don’t-exist ad have a cable sci-fi aesthetic, which is unsurprising for Netflix but a bummer for Snyder. Still looking forward to this, though.
Oh hey, Daniel Warren Johnson did concept art work for this? Awesome. Do a Powerbomb! was one of the best comics of 2022.
This looks so cool, imo. Also, cool that one of the characters is non-binary, played by a non-binary actor.
Definitely looks like a Zack Snyder movie ha. I'm in. Didn't know this was two movies. Part two comes out April 19 next year.
I chuckled when the two parts was shown in the teaser just because it’s so Snyder, but fuck it, I’m in
Look interesting overall. Seems like a weird mix of styles, some parts remind me of Villeneuve's Dune (good), other shots remind me of Hunger Games (bad). Why do we always have to have dudes that look like space nazis? Also its Snyder so I don't expect much out of the story or character development. I really want this to be good thought, I'm rooting for it. Still don't get why this isn't getting a wide theatrical run though.
I'll watch it but not gonna lie that trailer didnt really add to my excitement. Feels kinda messy and like Snyder is trying to do too many things with it. Also feels kinda cheap since its obviously ripping off other properties.
Idk. Snyder going shamelessly maximalist and using his idea that started as Star Wars project, and refusing to hide that it’s a Star War? It rules, imo; it’s my new Star Wars.
