I've never taken an Uber or taxi by myself. Too expensive

It also (here at least) helps to limit liability for the bar if patrons here a bartender offer to get someone a taxi. So it happens a lot up here.

There is no obligated small talk. I legit have had >50% of my uber rides in my lifetime be in complete silence.

Also have had one where the uber driver made my friend put the address into his phone and direct the driver on where to go and then he also blew through at least 6 stop signs and so we just asked him to pull over and then gave him a 1-star and Uber immediately emailed my friend for a review/phone call about why we rated this guy so low.

Just cough a lot and talk with a really low, raspy voice and then they don't want to open your mouth and get them sick.

I've never done a solo Uber just because the whole concept of Uber still makes me anxious so I've only done them with my family, having to do solo taxi rides has been a necessity at times but they rarely make small talk

  9. i shouldn't have to do that to have a silent car ride. it's understood you don't talk to strangers. especially in confined spaces like a car.

It was understood to never get in a strangers car but technology changes things.

I mean, I'm sympathetic to those that don't want to get in an uber, it is a completely valid thing and I'm poking fun. However, if the option is to uber or risk a DUI, you have to make the proper choice there.

I use both Lyft and Uber a lot. I’ve had times where they didn’t say anything and it was great, times where they wouldn’t stop talking and it was awful, and times where I’ve had legitimately fulfilling conversations with my driver. I met this one dude and we totally clicked and I’d often see him in town and whenever we’d run into each other we’d engage in a classic bro hug lol. It really just depends on the driver. I don’t care if they talk to me as long as they elevate the conversation from small talk to medium talk.

We don't have uber where I live so I only use it when I'm staying in the city going to concerts and sometimes the driver will obv lookup who is playing at the venue that night and have their music playing when we get in which I think is super cute.

It is seriously 50/50 on rides if you will get a talkative driver or one who just asks how to get to the destination. I prefer zero talk just because I feel like a broken record on every ride because generally most conversations are the same.

Unless I’m drunk/buzzed then I will most likely tell the driver who I lost my virginity to and ask to go through drive thru McDonald’s.

i use lyft because it is cheaper and the corporate culture isn't as shitty and i have loved like every driver

Yeah you should definitely uber or lyft, but the thing is, sometimes you don't make the best decisions when you're fucked up. Sleeping in his car wasn't the worst thing he could've done.

I really hate small talk in a cab. I've been going out of my way to use Juno more because you can specifically request for a "quiet ride"
