ELO is a method of calculating an individuals rating in a competitive system. It was originally designed for chess and has been incorporated into all sorts of competitive arenas like tinder or online gaming. ELO basically takes your games/swipes, looks at your win/loss/match/nonmatch and your score/performance/response rate for matches and calculates an ELO ranking.

so you have to look at tinder as a zero sum win or lose game. if you swipe right on everyone, that means you have more games/swipes, if you have a low match rate, that means you have a lot of losses, which makes your ELO ranking lower and lower, which puts you further down the stack from other guys who have a higher ELO which means less women see you in their stack since you're so far down, which means you continue to have less and less matches since your ELO and place in other women's stack keeps falling lower and lower.
