in today's edition of Cam crushes it: Melissa got a huge steal on a foreclosed/flipped home at a very young age and rents it as an income property as it's a lot to maintain for one person. a pipe in the basement just burst two hours ago and has been steadily flooding the basement, a family of 6 lives there and they use the basement for storage. she called a bunch of places and no one could come til tomorrow. i called like 35 companies and call 33 or so just went out there to fix it for her. i feel good

 

also, this shows me there should be an uber for plumbers. who is coventuring this with me???

I think I've found myself in a slightly weird space right now.

So, I've been tanking badly on the online stuff. Match, Tinder, all that is going terribly. The thing is, I can't even really be arsed when I do write a message. So, I'll try to say something relevant to the individual or whatever, but I just can't get motivated to be much more than perfunctory. I'm just sort of settling into the idea that online is not something I can make work anymore (and I was never all that good at it). I put it down to not being much to look at, but I don't know if it's that simple.

On the flip side of this is that I've been going out a lot recently (probably a lot more and harder than I should) and a repeated theme recently has been that people I barely know have been complimenting me on all sorts, which is something i find really awkward. I can't figure out whether people are being genuine or whether I've now reached some sort of male spinster age where people feel sorry for me. Maybe I look the type to descend into cats and microwave meals or something.

Anyway, it's left me feeling a bit unsettled for whatever reason. There's a part of me wants to be cynical and avoid the conceit of believing any of the hype, but there's also part of me that thinks if my peers value some of what I have to offer, maybe I can turn that into some confidence I can use to meet people in the wild. I have a very hard time just chatting with a stranger who I haven't been introduced to by someone else or by virtue of an event.

Sorry about the long and aimless ramble. A gallery of strangers seemed the best place for it.

 

idk man, i get in that Truman Show mentality too, but don't sell yourself so short as to assume you're so unattractive or something that all these people are magically on the same wavelength about it. the better money is that you're better looking than you give yourself credit for, hard as it is to accept. online dating sucks, there's no candor, no way to know for sure how the other person is receiving you.
