If this was an isolated thing, maybe youd have a point but she is saying its happened multiple times as well as a bunch more times across her entire life. This is a pattern of behaviour that is more than likely rooted in misogyny.

    Log off, man

because the basis of your entire argument is "you, a woman versed in feminist ideas growing up in a patriarch society, don't know what mansplaining is. I know what it is better, and you're silly"

you're telling her that her life of experience of how these interactions come across as a woman is invalid because you're a man which means you know where the other men are coming from.

I am not talking about her life experience, we are talking about people telling her she is wrong because she doesn't like a huge genre of music that many other people do. This happens all.the.time. If you make a statement like that. I don't care if its a girl, boy, or an alien.

No it's not. My argument is that people aren't berating you because you are a woman. It's because they feel close to a genre of music that you are dismissing. You are putting so many words in my mouth.

So, the girl from last week that sits next to me didn't even acknowledge me today. She might have been waiting for me to say something first, though. I'm going to wait until it's closer to the next exam and ask her if she still wants to meet in the student center to study, but I'm not holding my breath.

an interesting criticism from the person coming at this argument with a hardline "you're wrong" stance

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

A man going on a dating site, looking for women to talk to, and then singling out one that doesn't agree with the man's taste in music, and then using that as an icebreaker, or demean her point of view...is mansplaining. Just because the audience is 100% men, doesn't take away from that fact.

i also just want to reiterate again that it's not even my opinion they have a problem with.

they are attempting to prove me wrong. When I say "I don't like this music" they are trying to say "yes you do because you listed this artist who is an offshoot of that genre" or "yes you do because all mainstream pop is edm" they aren't arguing at all with my taste. they are arguing with how I choose to express it. they are trying to correct the way I explain my musical tastes. It is demeaning, to me, whether you see it that way or not.

The fact that it's a bunch of dudes in here telling a woman how to feel and what other men's intentions are makes it mansplaning.

well like example I gave someone pointed out "art rap" and "90s pop" which aren't specific artists but same idea. That ones an easy example to use just because it happened so recently/was what spurred this lol
other messages I don't know word for word offhand but it's just a general tone that I gather from these messages that is demeaning.

Edited to add: I just remembered one artist in particualar mentioned was Kid Cudi.

edited again to add: I should just be able to express my musical taste without someone trying to argue to find the one exception.

And also if you are a dude than you don't get to decide if you're mansplaning or not. If a woman tells you that you are, than you are.
