i think 5 min is the sweet spot. doesn't leave anyone hanging and no one looks desperate

 

the sweet spot is when you read the message and have the time to respond. You do it. It's common courtesy. Do you just ask them to wait while you're having a conversation in person? "I'd love to answer your question but I need to go pretend to ignore what you said because I don't want to respond too soon!"

 

If you like someone. Let em know. If you dig them chances are so do at least 20 other people.

Text them back right away. Tag them in funny shit on Instagram even though you know they already say it. Name your pet goldfish after their dead grandma etc.

 

Yeah Im not wasting my time texting someone unless I want to. And Im not gonna want to text them if they always wait hours or days or whatever. Only text someone if you want to and dont worry about "seeming desperate". Its really silly imo

If Im texting and not busy Ill text back within minutes. If Im busy obv its different.

 

After a while when youre texting with the kind of people who make you wait you just have to wonder "why are you even texting me then?"

Idk if im texting someone and they're responding within a minute or two or instantly and we're having an actual convo over text, then sure, I'll reply instantly. But if they're taking 10 minutes or more between texts i assume they're busy and don't blow up their phone immediately after they respond. It does make me feel a little desperate for attention when I do that, so I try not to

Im more talking about people who initiate texts or continue text convos but take days even or respond at weird times in the day. To the point where you wonder why theyre even texting lol

 

that's fine. i don't want to be a part of a 100 message conversation in the span of 5 minutes. my fingers are too fucking fat and siri autocorrects are too fucking awful for me to have any sort of patience for that kind of texting.
