Exactly. Not to quote Brand New on the cult Brand New worship site, but I remember Jesse saying a few years ago that in his-mid 20s, he realized he was dumb in his early 20s and had it all figured out. Then in his late 20s, he said that about his mid 20s. Then in his early 30s, he realized that you're never done learning and it's dumb to think otherwise.

I'm probably paraphrasing that off of a stoned memory to where it's 20% accurate, but it works for me regardless. I used to think I wanted to have kids before I turned 25, and thought I could think that because I found a killer sublet on craigslist and was paying $450 a month for a $2,000 place on a Blockbuster wage. I want to hit that me with a Destino.

For sure. We won't ever stop learning and adapting from the situations we go through, the sooner we accept that, the better.

20 year old me wanted kids, to be a lawyer, and live that typical suburban life. That me deserves 3 superkicks to the jaw.

Now I just want my own place, no kids, and to not be in debt with student loans. The real American dream

Teenage me wanted to be part of a music community living in an apartment in the city. I listen to music i guess and live in an apartment in a town so I guess I have achieved the sad parallel universe version of that dream lol even tho it's a town I hate and I'm not part of a local music community. My apt is cute tho! I think I mostly wanted to feel part of something. I wanted a good group of friends and a place in the world I guess.

I do sorta resent having to go thru bs to learn and grow. I resent that my self worth was so trash and low that I needed to learn the hard way to respect myself. I wish I had grown up in an environment that fostered that instead of going thru an abusive experience to get it. I wish I had that ~thanks for making me stronger~ mentality but I am just kinda bitter haha.

The original lyrics of Kelly Clarkson's smash hit, but it just didn't quite fit the melody!

I met he and his son at a Publix in my hometown when I was a little kid. the son's ex-wife is from here so that's ostensibly why they would be in a small ass town like mine. I don't remember it really but yeah.

I met Cody Rhodes at the most recent ROH show here and he was literally the nicest person I've probably ever met.

I second this. I just realized that tonight/tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of my ex breaking up with me. Time flies. I often look back and think, "what the fuck was i doing?" in regards to certain things but, in the end, at I can at least reflect and think, "Well, I won't make that mistake again." It sucks, but it's part of growing. I've still got a lot to learn and plenty of room for growth, but I have realized a lot about myself this past year and I probably wouldn't have without the pain. Also, pretty sure it's was about this time last year that I started frequenting this particular thread as I was in a dark place. Thank you all for any words of encouragement you have given me.

@electro haikus I am terribly sorry to hear this. In my experience, it's those future plans that sting the most and are the hardest to let go. I, however, have never gotten to the point where I lived with my girlfriend or was even close to engagement so I cannot begin to understand how that must feel. If you ever happen to be in the L.A. area, let's grab breakfast. On me. Waffle to waffle.

@Joe4th, I found the interview. 2009. I was 18. Here's the quote, impressive that it stuck with me for 8 years after one skim on my iPod touch.

    Quote:
    Interview:
    Q&A: Brand New’s Jesse Lacey

Wow. Feels cool that as a 26 year old who had AIM at 11 and Myspace at 14 and has been triple dipped in information overload that reading that quote once stuck with me all this time.

His son Cody is in the prime of his life. His relationship with Dustin is beautiful. The Rhodes family is an exemplary reason why wrestling is an art more than it is a fake sport. Don't @ me I'll wreck you.

Nope. And she shouldn't have. I was a dickhead.
There's a live video of him playing Soco over seas a few years ago and he has an into something along those lines about how the things that are important to you at 18 aren't that important to you in your late 20's. One of my favorite live performances.

I am definitely getting laid this weekend.

We were fake sexting and I sent a peach emoji and she asked if peach means ass or vagina and I said whichever she wanted it to mean and then she invited me over on Saturday and said it'd be a surprise
