I would have night terrors about seeing a green hand that stopped at the wrist climb over the foot of my bed towards me. Then I'd go to my parents room but not want to wake them up so I'd just stand at their bedside until they woke up from my presence of being there. Then I'd sleep in their bed and would wake up hysterical that there was a man with a gun pointed at my mom in the doorway of their bedroom. Of course, none of that happened but my parents tried their best to calm me down regardless. Couldn't imagine being a parent and having to deal with that stuff. I'd be so annoyed. STOP STANDING BY THE SIDE OF MY BED UNTIL I'M STARTLED AWAKE BY YOU STANDING THERE DOOFUS

 

I'm extremely scared of the dark and as a kid my mom never let me have a nightlight. idk why she's weird. I'd be too scared to get up in the dark to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. So I would lay there for minutes or hours like paralyzed with fear until I worked up the nerve to yell for my dad and I'd make him walk me to the bathroom, which was right next to my room. I think I've told this story before lol but props, dad. That'd be annoying af.

 

Next date with that guy I'm gonna put out.

 

I've at times had some sort of crazy in sleep reaction where I end up more frightened than I've ever been while awake and I just wake up properly howling the place down. I never ever know what triggers it, because I never know what I was dreaming about or whatever to do it, which makes it worse, as I don't know why I'm so scared.

Anyway, first time that ever happened, my then gf was in bed with me. I woke up screaming, screamed in her face and then kicked her out of the bed and onto the floor. I then stopped and collapsed back to sleep. She was not impressed.

As for this weekend of dates, things have gone really really well. I went over to hers on Friday evening (we went out drinking with some other newbies in town, ending in a gay bar where one of the girls with us decided kissing my date was something she fancied doing, in front of the guy that she is dating...) and she left this morning to go to work. Probably moving a bit quickly really, but kind of hard to restrain the momentum.

 

Had a big crush on a girl who plays for the female side of my dodgeball team for a while now.
I was in a a bar last night that she was working in, spoke to her for ages (Slightly worrying as I was very drunk...) However, asked her if she'd like to go out for some drinks or dinner at some point, and she said yes, thankfully!
Then spent the rest of my night hanging out with her best friends, who spent ages telling me about how great an idea they think the two of us dating is, so it's a promising start.

 

I need to go on a date or something...

 

ok first of all the sleep talk was great to wade through. Laughed out loud several times. My ex said some hilarious stuff in his sleep, but nothing I can think of offhand.

In other news,
the guy I've been seeing for the last 2 months and have been hot-and-cold with and I finally "defined the relationship" and established that we aren't pursuing anything. He still wants to continue how we've been though, and basically be friends with benefits/whatever we've been doing. I am going to attempt it even though I do already have feelings for him so I'm just going to end up getting hurt.

oh and in other other news, I got a tinder. So far, unimpressed.

I've been reflecting on a lot of things lately, and ended up talking to someone that was my best friend from a few years ago. We had a constant on again off again sort of thing, where I had feelings for her to start, and she didn't at first, then when she started to, I panicked and pushed her away. As much as I would like for it to pick back up, because she's a really awesome person, she's engaged now, and it'll always be one of the biggest "what-ifs?" in my life.

 

This helped me understand less than I already did about that sequence of texts.

 

She replied "the cow is actually me" to which I replied "how are you typing". Brilliant stuff guys.

 

I might have to download tinder eventually because I do not know how to meet people in public settings

 

I'm getting to the point where I'm gonna delete tinder here pretty soon. I have been talking to a woman I've met on there for about a week now who lives about 2.5 hours away. Had a lot of really good conversation and we're so similar it's crazy (same PoliSci major, both plan to get an MPA, music, tv shows, movies, running, etc). I'm going down there this Friday for the mewithoutYou concert and staying overnight at a hotel in the city so hopefully we can plan to meet up either Friday or Saturday sometime and hang out. If this doesn't work out, I'm gonna take a long break from the online dating app life because for me ultimately it's been frustrating and unfulfilling. Most of that is probably on me and my expectations, so I think I need to take a step back for a while if I do.

 

Same. I also don't really go out anymore because most of my friends are married/ engaged. And i mostly work with females. Would never talk to someone at the gym. I don't know how else people meet.

I go out a few times with my friends, and even then, the thought of going up to a random person to try and talk to them is intimidating.

 

at work i'm constantly bouncing around to different buildings and such and today i started a new project where i'll be predominantly in one building most of the day so i got introduced to A LOT of new people. i really want to be able to wear a shirt that says, "hi, i'm not interested in you or your life, please don't make this awkward" just to skip past any unnecessary human interactions.
