Well, as you know, she had been texting me about how she would be in town for a company party and that she really wanted me to be her guest.

She asked if I could pick her up from the airport, to which I agreed, and said that she’d love to get lunch after. Cool. So I get to the airport and text her I’m there and she sends me a picture of...her son? Wat. Her son is there too. Surprise!

So, this part was sort of awkward. Like, hey man, haven’t seen you in years and I didn’t know you were gonna be here and I dunno if you knew I was the one picking y’all up but yeah I’m here to pick up your mom who I actually text with a lot good to see you bro.

I guess he was in town for some convention or something so I drop him off and then his mom and I go back to her hotel room to drop her luggage off. We’re there for awhile and then we leave to get lunch. It was really nice. Talking to her is so effortless. We have a few drinks with our lunch and decide to go back to her hotel room. On the walk back I felt the dynamic had changed a bit. A lot more of what I perceived to be flirtatious touching, including her putting her hand on my back and like rubbing it I guess??? I dunno, to me that felt like flirting but waddoo I kno

We get back to her hotel room and, much like when we were at her house, we are sitting next to each other in the couch, as close as we possibly could without actually cuddling. But, I refrain from making any sort of move and we just chat for awhile and I had to leave for work and I give her a hug goodbye.

That night I’m at work and the bar she’s at is literally just below my office so it would be very easy for me to sneak away and grab a quick drink. She’s texting me, clearly having had a few drinks, saying how I need to come downstairs and be her date and she even threw in some line about how handsome she found me. I then very specifically remember her making the point of saying, “hey, Jeremy (her son) is gone now. You should come down.” Why she specified that he was gone? I dunno exactly but it stood out to me.

I go down and I have to keep it brief. We have a few drinks. Her son comes back so instantly the dynamic changes. I sorta distance myself from her and watch the band playing by myself. I have to go and she says she wants to walk me back. So we’re walking together and there is what I perceive to be clear chemistry between us. (Oh yeah, something I should probably note: I am known for being very oblivious when it comes to people being into me unless they are very direct. I’ve let a lot of opportunities pass me by due to being an oblivious idiot only to have other people be like ‘dude wtf!? So for me to think there is clear chemistry between me and someone is kinda rare. Doesn’t mean it’s correct, but felt the need to point it out.) I get to my destination and we’re standing there for awhile just talking and rather than going in for the kiss, I tell her it was very nice seeing her and hug her goodbye. She mentions how I should fly to Chicago and visit her sometime.

Since then we’ve texted here and there. Not a whole lot. And then last night we were texting about school and I decided, fuck it, and just told her straight up how I feel about her. I don’t even know how to gauge her response though. it wasn’t like “wow fuck you no way you’re wrong” but it was just a really long tangent lol. In it she mentions how easy I am to talk to and says, “I am completely flattered by a smart thinking, thoughtful, good looking young man having any thoughts that consider me anything other than a wise old lady.” She mentions being flattered twice and even says it’s nice to be thought of that way and says, “thank you for thinking so well of me.”
But then after all the compliments she says, “but I don’t want to mess you up in any way or form.” I legit have no idea what that means haha. It’s a little bit more ambiguous than I was hoping for. I wanted either a hard, “yes, I’m into you too” or a hard, “no, Gtfo.” So there’s that. But I’m glad I laid it out on the table. At least I can say I tried
