I know nothing about Snapchat or these side hustles, but let's say I have a job that makes $40k-$60k. And I do this side thing and make $2k/mo ($24k/yr), would you report or not?

Does a babysitter claim their money? The point that @supernovagirl was making earlier is that people tend to focus on sex workers more than other side hustles in terms of being held accountable tax wise and that is based largely in some baked-in, inherent misogyny. The double standard most people have (kids baby sitting regularly for money as teenagers) is damaging to those sex workers making an honest living and it helps reinforce the stigmas surrounding the work that delegitimizes what they do and the inherent dangers of working in an unregulated field (that should be legal.)

 

My girlfriend owns a wrestling Christmas sweater and I own a pop punk one and it’s very #ourbrand and I can’t wait to wear them to Christmas this year.

 

I doubt most people are making 2k a month on this type of thing. I also don't know how Snapchat handles payments or any of that stuff.

It’s well known that waiters and bartenders and such all encourage each other to lie on their taxes about their tips. And no one has ever put together a campaign to report them.

Also, it’s absurd as well to act like you can know anything about how much someone makes off of it. So presumptuous based on absolutely nothing.

Also, at the end of the day for most it *is* just a side hustle no different than babysitting. It’s scary to try and do your taxes when you know your job is stigmatized.

Also like half the people in this country go and buy weed from their boy down the block and somehow they never get concerned about homeboy’s tax situation.

I never claimed any of the income I made off craiglist fixing people computers or setting up networks or any of that shit. I think it's morally wrong to report people who are not super rich to the IRS or anything. people are just trying to get by and they found a market.
