this is almost exactly my situation. I had started a physically intimate relationship with my best friend in the fall of 2017 that had a lot of ups and downs and finally ended with our entire friendship going up in flames this fall. it was a loss I wasn’t really prepared to process, and a lot of my recent irresponsible use of tinder has been a way to avoid having the reality of what happened sink in. I think I’m slowly getting to a place where I can adjust and start to be more at peace with where my life is at, make some changes etc so it can maybe stop feeling like an IRL Nicole Dollanganger song

I think this guy might be different, but also I’ve said that a million times and it’s never been true in the way I hoped it would be. at the very least I hope he could maybe be a friend who could help me through this period, but that can be kind of difficult to adjust to when there are still feelings there, and I’m gonna have to think pretty carefully about how to handle this one if I don’t wanna feed the same self-destructive cycle I’ve been in

 

my problem is honestly largely that, starting at the age of 12, I developed a habit of almost always having love interests around for some kind of intimacy, only ever going without that for maybe at most a month or so at a time. as a teenager I also suffered through multiple abusive relationships, which has heavily conditioned this kind of trauma bonded sense of always needing sexual partners because outside of that I’m unlovable and all that stuff. I think I’ve always underestimated how difficult it would be to recover from this and how deeply it still unconsciously impacts my behavior

I have been having pretty decent luck with Tinder lately! However, I fucking HATE it. It makes me feel so bad sometimes. I truly feel like I cannot capture what I "have to offer" or who I am in a couple of pictures and a couple of sentences. I have an awful fear of rejection and that probably has something to do with why I've been content to just chill in my room for the past couple of years, but it's really hard to not "take it personally". I'm not trying to excuse dudes saying shitty stuff or anything of that nature, or like come off as some sort of MRA, that is the exact opposite of where I am coming from, but dating apps suck for guys too. I downloaded Bumble a while ago but couldn't get it and my Facebook to link so I never actually used it. Might give that a shot in a couple of days.
