I'm gonna be an all time great dad. Everyone that knows me say I act like a dad already. Plus I got dad bod af.

People say I would make a great mom cause i worked with kids and love them but also I didn't have those kids for the rest of my life and could give them back lol. I need my down time. And when I do get frustrated i feel like my mother which is terrible. I see so many parents who can't do stuff for themselves and to them it's totally worth it which is amazing but for me I'd rather spend the money going on a trip or shopping for me or something and am not ready to give that up

 

It feels selfish but when I hear people say they don't do anything any more now that they have kids I'm like I'd rather die than miss out on concerts and movies because of a baby

 

It's definitely easy to think/feel that way, but once you have a kid, it's a whole different world and you realize that stuff doesn't matter as much. Also, if you have a good support system, you can definitely still do all those things, just maybe in moderation. I still go to 1-2 concerts a month, tons of movies, I go to the gym, etc. I think one of the things I sacrificed is time with friends, which I do miss.

 

I think people also use kids as I don't know if excuse is the word but a reason not to do stuff

 

100%. They are very time consuming, and early in their life very draining. So either stay at home and sleep vs other things? Sleep wins!

 

Yeah and I guess most of the ppl I know who have kids are already struggling financially and working and stuff so they don't have much free time or resources to do stuff and they all say it's worth it but they all say they feel guilty if they do anything for themselves and I can't live that life. One of my good friends used to do fun stuff with me all the time impulsively but she is a foster parent now and she gets so stressed out and has little free time and is often broke and I'm sure it's great and rewarding but she looks on the verge of breakdown all the time and I'm cool just coming home and watching tv by myself I guess

 

I'll never forget what my dad told me 4 years ago when my wife was pregnant. He said, just because you're having a child, doesn't mean you don't have a life anymore.

He encouraged my wife and I to still make time for friends, social gatherings, movies, concerts, sports, etc which we do...quite often actually.

 

My friends with kids are always like let's go to the park and watch my kid play or whatever and I'm like ugggh. I had a friend trick me once too. She said we were going shopping and then she drove to the trampoline park and was like oh I hope it's okay I told them they'd get a surprise first tee hee sorry I didn't mention it to u before and I was like

 

I just don't wanna have a kid because what if my kid is lame? What if all they want to do is watch YouTube videos of people building stuff in Minecraft? I couldn't handle that.

 

I'm paranoid my kid would rebel and become a Republican like it is a legit fear of mine.

 

As long as my kid listens to pop punk that’s all that matters

 

if I ever had a son I'd be like fuck there's like an 80% chance he'll grow up to be trash, I could do my best to avoid instilling toxic masculinity but it's tough

 

In my sociology classes a lot of the parents would freak out and get defensive about how they don't teach their children that toxic bad stuff!!!! But even if u don't the media and various institutions do. All you can do is your best and hope they resist and challenge those other influences, but at some point you just kinda have to hope for the best and I don't care for those odds lol

 

my co-worker works in the bulk department and he told me kids are the best form of birth control.

The amount of times he has to make sure kids don't grab into the bins is nuts. If they even touch anything, it requires a full cleaning and parent's just let the kids run wild.

 

My nephews are perfect birth control, love them to death. But it’s so nice knowing I can give them back when they trippin’

 

Working with kids was great bc. I loved them all but omggggggg

 

Being an uncle is great, my niece and nephew are awesome. I just don't want/need kids in my life at this point.

Omg speaking of this convo we took my nephew to childcare at the casino and it was bomb af I wanna work there but it prob pays next to nothing. It was so amazing and modern and educational!!

Kids from ages like 1-6 are my fave ever and my heart aches when I see them but I'm still not at a place to want my own

 

Abstinence won't work for all of us, I'm afraid.
