I always wonder who the market for those reaction videos are, because I can't think of anything I'd less rather watch, my favorite is when they're like 15 minutes for a 3 minute song how is that possible

The worst is when someone has u watch a long video and they didn't realize it was so long and there's always a point where u r both like omg this video has peaked and it's just going on and on, and they check the running time and there's still five minutes left and u wonder if they'll be cool and just turn it off BUT THEY DON'T. So u both are watching it awkwardly knowing it has been too long and u both wish it would end BUT IT DOESN'T

To be fair, she's lowkey a mess right now. She's moving to Chicago where her estranged daughter lives and she's not telling her (bad call imo) and she has a terrible relationship with both of her sons and after hanging out with her it sounds like she might be kind of an alcoholic lol. So, "mess" would be an astute assumption.

 

I miss the good ol days (2016) when I didn't get called out for the dumb shit I said

I merely bring it up to highlight the point that he isn't 100% wrong.

Also, I consider myself to be very progressive and I guess I just don't see what's so offensive about assuming that someone is a mess based off the information they were given? It'd be one thing if that was a sexist term only applied to women but it's not. It might not be the most articulate word, but I wouldn't consider it necessarily offensive. Second of all, if he was way off base I would have corrected him, but he's not too far off from the truth. So, can someone enlighten me here? And maybe without a tinge of anger. I'm genuinely curious what the hell was said by him that was so stupid and why.

 

Let us imagine a society where women are very often considered unstable for pretty minute, human things. All anyone in this thread has to go on is a one sided story that hasn't really given us any substantial information about this woman other than her rough age and religion of choice (not a whole lot to go on). Frankly, while my claws are out, if one were forced into this unnecessary game of amateur shrink, I wouldn't be focusing on her, but that's probably primarily because we have much more perspective via the point-of-view

Then, to top it off, to defend such behavior some extremely personal and potentially embarrassing information is shared. Seems obvious why that would be icky

And to address the tone policing: maybe I'm feelin a little frisky because this thread so often feels like it's pretty comfortable dipping its toes into the pool of toxic masculinity, and I figured instead of just unsubbing/ignoring I'd at least push back a little before just in case others are feeling the same way

Hey, an actual answer, I genuinely appreciate that.

The thing is, judging from this response, we actually see eye to eye on a lot it seems. I think the term "crazy" and others like it get thrown around far too flippantly when referring to women. Now, if I was an outsider and I was reading my posts about this whole situation would I look at that be like, "hmmm, she's a mess"? Eh. Probably not. But I guess I felt the need to address the fact that he wasn't actually all that wrong, and maybe just more intuitive than I. I also think that "mess" is a bit more nuanced than something like "crazy" but...I digress

As for me posting information about her, maybe I'm wrong here, but I guess I just see chorus as a pretty safe place to post pretty much whatever. It's not like I'm posting this shit on Facebook or Instagram. It's still pretty anonymous. Perhaps I need to reevaluate that.

I just think that if you want to help someone understand why what they are saying might be wrong it's best to actually address the issue than say something that makes you look like a combative dick, which is where I felt your first two comments were coming from. They weren't gonna help anyone.



Anyways...can we move on from this and talk about boners and stuff?
