Real Friends – “Always Lose”

I was unsure when they announced Cody as the new vocalist since Dan’s voice was what got me into RF originally but all these new songs rip. Dig the chorus of this one a lot.

 

I miss Dan. Cody is good, but it just doesn’t sound like Real Friends.

All songs released with Cody have been good though. The uniqueness of Dan’s voice set them apart from what the typical pop punk band sounded like. Now they kinda just blend in.

 

This convo about Cody/Dan seems like it’s going to last as long as Mayday fans who talk about missing Jason Lancaster/a lot of dual vocals. Cody is great and new songs are great - period.

 

Agreed. IMO RF with Dan > RF with Cody > Dan in other projects. But happy for all. Cody seems like a great fit for the band. I was skeptical even after liking him in Youth Fountain, but he and the band seem to be doing well. And I caught them on the Pure Noise tour, and they were great.

 

Dan was not good live with Youth Fountain and he was not good live on the Pure Noise tour with RF. Just an absolute bummer.

 

New songs have all been great

 

Right? That lasted forever and this seems like will too. Can't we just get back to straight facts, like Where You Want To Be being superior to Tell All Your Friends? This is my TED Talk

I’ve never really been into this band, seen them live and they didn’t do much for me, but I’m enjoying this new stuff a decent bit.
