Ready for it!

 

Their catalog is straight diminishing returns for me w each record, but they were my favorite band in the world at one point and I still think even their worst stuff is pretty good so I’ll definitely listen day 1

 

new album is out today

 

It’s enjoyable and breezy but it kinda feels like they’re coasting at this point. I do love “Flowers” and “Say No More” though

 

Those songs, Water Underground, Haunted World, and the closer are standouts for me.

It would've been hard to top The Main Thing for me. That's probably the pinnacle of their sound and was massively underrated. Probably an unfortunate effect of it dropping in early 2020, but man they peaked on that album IMO.

This feels like a mesh of sounds from throughout their career, which is essentially a signature sound anyway. I think it would be cool to get a curveball from them. Their best songs are the ones that stray from the familiar structure.

 

Listened to In Mind a ton and still is the one I go back to the most but listened to TMT again and have found a new appreciation for it. Off the bat, the new one will get just as many listens.
