great interview with Zane Lowe. was tangentially aware of the fact that the physical versions of the album contain slight differences in instrumentation (i.e. fewer horn stabs during the bridge of WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!) and lyrics (no "so listen to my sister sing" on Joy.) on some songs, but wasn't aware she basically handed in the final version of the album less than two weeks ago. a tad frustrating to not have the "final" product on my record shelf, but the differences sounded pretty minuscule, so i couldn't really tell what had and hadn't changed.
tbh, a 6.9 from Pitchfork is more generous than i was expecting from them (especially when a certain dumbass music reviewer on YouTube gave it a light 3)
Just got done with my 2nd listen and I’m pretty disappointed in this. I appreciate the passion and ambition but there’s practically no songs that I care for on here, especially after such a stellar debut. As someone who only ever listens to albums front to back, there’s no way in hell I want to hear those 4 minutes of credits ever again lol
I concur with the exception of Life Boat and Where the Hell is my Husband. Joy specifically reminds me of this song from the Chance wedding album.
RAYE's sister released an album a few weeks ago too, very spacey vibey lowkey pop kinda stuff, worth a listen
I would be interested in a "Singles Versions" release of this album that basically is just every song as a single edit, aka no dialogue haha
