King of Limbs was daring and nobody liked it lol (I do) AMSP might call back to previous work but it's also fucking superb. I don't need a left turn from them this far into their career, even if I'd welcome it. They're masters of what they do
Being daring was necessary for them to climb the mountain with OKC and Kid A. Since then, I second Aaron's point. Daring can mean lots of things, but I feel like HTTT and KoL were more experimental vs. IR and AMSP's more straightforward songwriting. I prefer the latter two records, and it's not close. I also feel like some of what they've done with The Smile could be called daring in a similar way to KoL, and reception has been mixed. I'd love nothing more than a reinvention of RH that turns out half as successful as Kid A was, I'm just skeptical that's possible.
I didn't think Hail To The Thief was all that experimental. If anything it felt like a return to more traditional songwriting after Kid A and Amnesiac. Great album though.
I find it "experimental" more in the sense that it seems a lot less fussed-over in the studio (for better and worse depending on the song, imo) than the album before or after it - more of a loose live-in-the-studio feel that they'd never really tried on for a whole record before
the reason i say such a thing is i feel anything is possible with these guys. thom and jonny have put out some very interesting music lately on their own outside of RH.
I'd consider HTTT in its variety. Lot of different sounds going on there as opposed to how cohesive something like In Rainbows is
Because of the Oscars and Zone of Interest I was going back and watching some of Jonathan Glazer's old 90's music videos before he got into film. Goddamn the Karma Police video is so good
A coffee table book of pics taken by Colin over the years is up for pre-order. Looks cool! HOW TO DISAPPEAR | Linktree
I stared at that for too long because I thought you were saying Radiohead covered a PTV song and I couldn't figure out what was going on
This is pretty chill. "Knife Edge" and "Four Ways In Time" are the only two tracks with vocals if anyone was wondering
With The Smile saying they are not playing any other shows this year than what has already been announced and Thom using a Radiohead track on this post…
