According to Reddit they're gonna be touring again sometime next Summer and are going to try and get the second album out before then
Does Radiohead ever make another album or is this spin off going to be what’s left? I’d be ok if this is what we got going forward but always curious what’s in store for Radiohead regardless
yeah they're playing a handful of new songs already as for whether RH continues, i'm kinda fine if it's just a one or two albums a decade thing with these side projects being the focus. even if AMSP is their last, it's a great final note and the smile, EOB, and their other projects have been super refreshing
again, i doubt they'll ever be "over." they're 30 years into their career and there's no pressure. why end it lol?
I'd heard the radio airplay singles from Radiohead like Creep and Karma Police and High and Dry but I didn't really get into them until me and my family were getting ready to drive down to see my extended family in California. MTV/VH1 weren't rly playing music videos much anymore but would play them rly late at night and we used to leave for California at like 3am for a 17-20 hour drive and anyway the video for Fake Plastic Trees came on while we had VH1 on in the background and I was hooked instantly. And for the next several years I was the most pretentious lil wannabe hipster because I thought listening to them made me cool af. It was my Radiohead/Pitchfork era lmao I was the worst. I'd be like whining to my friends like "guuuuys I'm not even a pretentious hipster I swear tee hee!" And nobody ever even called me one hahaha I just tried making it my personality. I don't know how I had friends.
Fake Plastic trees vid is beautiful. had a magical summer walking down to the skate park with 90s Radiohead in my headphones, drinking soda and trying to learn to heely. watching the teenagers blast music while skateboarding. crossing the river on my way back at 4am. this is all a past life, for various reasons. but it's a vibe.
i heard a bit of “karma police” when ok computer came out and didn’t like the guy’s voice so i was like “ok not for me” (my favorite band at the time was the smashing pumpkins, the irony isn’t lost on me). then a few years later someone posted the lyrics for “fake plastic trees” on a message board and i thought they were so beautiful that i needed to hear the song right away. acquired ok computer not too long after that (weirdly it would take me a few more years to buy the bends), and kid a’s release date was only a few months after that… rest is history
I also didn't like Thom's voice when Hail To The Thief came out when I was 15 but somehow I heard The Bends a few years later and was like this album I like
I think my favorite radiohead songs are idioteque, let down, fake plastic trees, and the version of motion picture soundtrack on the minidiscs. followed by some of the minidisc cuts (lift, i promise, true love waits full band electric v.)
Radiohead's Philip Selway on Atmospheric Solo LP, Radiohead's Future Confirmation Radiohead is still a band and that they're meeting sometime early this year to plan the future
Random: Fan's Recreation Of Radiohead Album Using Mario 64 Music Is Utterly Brilliant Just putting this here.
late to this convo, but this snowboard part from Romain de Marchi was my introduction to this band. one of the most perfectly put together parts there’s ever been. the skits, the editing, the riding, just all work so well together.
