No reason to beat a dead horse, but this whole Big Thief thing has me really bummed looking into the band's stance on playing in Israel. Apparently Thom threw a tantrum when he saw some Palestinian flags in a festival crowd?
i believe they used similar reasoning for it i.e. jonny's wife being from there? or something like that? but yeah it sucks. seeing turnstile played there and it wasn't made into a deal at all also sucks.
I feel like I'm going crazy. there was a full band version of True Love Waits with no acoustic guitars no synth and a groovy baseline right? Where is this?
there’s a version like that as track 7 on disc 1 of the ok computer minidisc leaks if that’s what you’re talking about
Listening now and the one I'm talking about is the same arrangement but a very different mix, possibly a diff. performance, like the bass was louder and it sounded like a tight rock song there were multiple youtube videos of this and now I can't find them
I am listening to this band's discography for the first time, only knowing the big songs Holy shit, OK Computer is everything I've ever heard it was. I loved The Bends too and actually really enjoyed Pablo Honey too
I literally heard it for the first time a couple hours ago and I'm already sad I can't listen to OK Computer for the first time ever again lol
I started listening to this band in 2012 or 2013 and, despite enjoying Ok Computer and Kid A, it took me a few years before things really clicked for me. I remember my first listen to In Rainbows in 2016 was truly something else and the rest is history. Now those three albums are all-timers for me. I just get absolutely lost in those albums.
Took me a long while to get into them too but no other band has gripped me the way this one has. I still listen to so many of their live shows as well which bring such a special energy to each track as well. Incredible band
Yeah there are a ton of well-recorded shows on YouTube. I spent a couple years ripping through those just to spend the time. Highly recommend checking them out.
I have a ton of MP3s of live shows that were on a Dropbox a few years ago. If anyone had any interest in that, happy to dig up and share if still active save yourself from YouTube haha although having the live video is also a nice companion
Yup, Kid A was amazing. I can't believe it's 22 years old, it could have come out today Amnesiac I wasn't as into on my first listen but I did still really enjoy it a lot I'm surprised I don't hear more people talk about Hail to the Thief, I never see it brought up but I actually loved that one Yes I am flying through these lmao, I'll get more repeated in depth listens after but for now I just want to hear them all
I remember watching some Radiohead livestreams on Periscope in 2017 and just being blown away by how HUGE The Gloaming is when they play it live
