Spinning Plates is incredible on this additional album as is alternative True Love Waits which I think I like better than the final version on AMSP If you say the word sounds great as well big fan of the additional content
Wild experience. I know this is hyperbolic, but I think this might be the coolest thing any band has ever done.
Looks like my deluxe edition/“scarry vinyl” finally shipped and is on the way. Can’t wait to finally get my hands on it
Scarry version of Kid Amnesia showed up yesterday...and the packaging is like 1/8" too thick to fit on an IKEA kallax shelf. whyyyyyy
I've seen that complaint from a lot of people. While frustrating, I have a number of box sets that won't fit in the record shelves. I normally just display those on top of the record shelf or even on a table or another shelf that may not even be by the record player. My copy was supposed to be here yesterday, but hasn't shown any movement in 3-4 days which kind of worries me. It's already been processed and handled so many times, the longer it's out there, the higher the chances are of it somehow getting damaged. So I'm hoping it arrives soon. Cannot wait to listen to it and check out all the album artwork.
Got my Kid A Mnesia box set in the other day and it's everything I hoped it would be. Radiohead always goes all out on their box sets. No sound issues with mine at all.
Just watched their in rainbows live studio play through for the first time with a friend who never had listened to Radiohead. What an experience. One new super fan created.
Wrapping up a discography run and the lukewarm reception to The King of Limbs still kinda baffles me. I always hear people say "they've done that sound before, but better" and I gotta say, it makes Kid A sound accessible lol. It's like you took the most challenging parts of that record, dialed them up and produced it in the same vein as In Rainbows. Maybe it's because TKOL was the first album I was a fan for, but I think it's in their top five. So many of the strange intricacies and hooky moments of those songs have wriggled their way into my brain over the past decade.
I also think Hail to the Thief has some great songs but is mostly unremarkable and never really comes together like it should. Pretty easily their weakest barring Pablo
I think king of limbs is half an incredible Radiohead record. There are 4 or 5 songs on it that blow me away. There’s also 3 I truly don’t care for and it’s already hella short. So I have a hard time ranking it - it was disappointing 3 years after in rainbows was 1.5 incredible albums. But I do love the good parts. I also love supercollider and think its inclusion would have helped a lot. fwiw I think hail has about the same amount of great songs so I agree with that part of your assessment wholeheartedly
I didn't really "get" Radiohead until I heard All I Need for the first time. Still one of the best love songs ever made imo
