The Bends is underrated but not by that much. It's very annoying when some people lump it in with Pablo Honey as basically throwaway pop, which seems wildly inaccurate to me. Based on reactions here since it dropped, I'm gonna have to say AMSP is even more underrated. Kid A In Rainbows A Moon Shaped Pool OK Computer The Bends Amnesiac Hail to the Thief The King of Limbs Pablo Honey
In Rainbows Kid A The Bends OK Computer Hail to the Thief A Moon Shaped Pool Amnesiac Pablo Honey The King of Limbs

the bends is kind of a brit pop record but there are better brit pop records out there planet telex is v good tho
Wouldn't you say Telex, Nice Dream, Bullet Proof, and a couple others go well beyond brit pop and demonstrate a lot of the texture and electronic influence they were headed for on OKC, though?
I've never understood the love for Kid A. I have been trying to get into that record over the course of the past 10 years by putting it on every 8 months or so and it has never clicked for me.
IMO, possibly the best, most cohesive, creative and atmospheric "journey" record in mainstream rock history (obviously you could argue for Dark Side of the Moon and a few others). It sounds nothing like most of the other music I love, but it's so fucking well done that it's in my all time top 10. At the time it came out, in particular, it felt like such a captivating soundscape ripped from some plausible dystopian future. If you're someone who isn't into the prog mindset and wants songs that stand completely on their own, I can understand being let down relative to the astronomical hype, though.
Kid A > Amnesiac > In Rainbows > OK Computer > AMSP > HttT > The Bends > TKoL > Pablo Honey This ranking probably changes more consistently than any other band though because they're so damn good
I can't even imagine sitting through an entire Pablo Honey listen. TKOL is so beautifully detailed, and grows with each listen. It's also really cool when performed live.
no real hot takes in my ranking, i think Kid A > In Rainbows > OK Computer > Amnesiac > A Moon Shaped Pool > The Bends > Hail to the Thief > The King of Limbs > Pablo Honey
for sure it shows promise and such primise would be fulfilled on OK but the leap was astronimical - no one could have guessed that they would follow with “the best rock album of the 90’s”
probably right just want to say that people forget Björk did the “experimental and alien and new mainstream electronic record” first :)
Kid A OK Computer In Rainbows A Moon Shaped Pool (these top 4 always change order) Amnesiac The King of Limbs The Bends Hail to the Thief Pablo Honey Those top 8 are all among my favorite albums of all time. I can’t think of many other bands where I’d say their 7th best album is a 9/10
I cannot wait to hear what he has up his sleeves and to see him next month on his solo tour. The tour next month sounds incredible
