I'm in love with the obvious jazz influences on that record. And the amount of control over the subtle dissonance and volume differences on the record. It might not be as shockingly inventive as Kid A but I love the brooding mood and the amount of control they have as musicians.
Also sourced today that MSP is not their last, and they are open to record their next album live together.
For as much credit as Radiohead has always gotten for being "weird" or groundbreaking, I think they absolutely peak in that regard on Amnesiac. Such a cool marriage of the sound they were building on the first three records, the electronic Kid A stuff, and that jazz influence you mentioned. Dollars and Cents for one is so distinctly Radiohead and memorable while being wildly "out there" at the same time, and that could apply to at least half the album.
I have to say I was worried for a bit AMSP would be their last album. True Love Waits finally got released as their 100th song from an album. Finally releasing Lift, Big Boots. The tour also seemed like a final tour since it was filled with so many fan favorites and songs that haven't been played in forever. I hope this band exists for a long time.
Kind of a bummer from that interview that it sounds like the AMSP tour isn't getting another leg. Might be the first album they skipped New England. Wish I had gone to NY
I had never really dug too deep into Radiohead until last week. My dad has been a fan of Radiohead since 1993 and saw them on their first US tour. He always encouraged me to check them out but for whatever reason I just never did. But last week I listened to Kid A from front to back and now I'm hooked. After listening to Kid A multiple times, I've gotten to The Bends, Ok Computer, and A Moon Shaped Pool. Enjoying all of them a lot as well.
That's awesome. One of the greatest discography's ever. Definitely will take some time to dig into each one of them. Still haven't even gotten to In Rainbows or Hail to the Thief yet!
Wow, I Promise is crazy. It's not that special of a song but hearing unheard material with Thom's voice like this is awesome. Hype for Lift increasing.

Next week is the official release date for the digital album right? Physical orders were pushed back a couple weeks I think.
