AMSP so good, didn't realize there was a sizable contingent that wasn't that impressed. I guess it's not as epic or ambitious as OKC or Kid A, but neither was In Rainbows, which is universally acclaimed. It feels like the perfect companion piece to IR; its bleaker sibling, perhaps.
I love AMSP. It only took about two listens to click with me. Which is pretty rare for Radiohead, I feel.
But also, as someone else already mentioned, we're comparing great albums to other great albums. So a lower tier Radiohead album is still pretty high up there. (Except for TKOL don't hurt me :p)
I love AMSP. It can be very relaxing at times and very haunting at others. It's just easy to put on and lose myself in. True Love Waits is one of my favorite songs probably ever, Daydreaming is another big one for me. Burn The Witch, Ful Stop, and Identikit are other favs from the album for me
There's like 4/5 songs I love on there but for the most part the rest don't do much for me. I have a similar problem with HTTT but I like the songs on there more as a whole.
Are there any Radiohead songs that you guys actively dislike? Obviously there are tracks that I'm somewhat indifferent about but the only song that comes to mind that I'm really not a fan of is "Codex."
Codex is amazing! I have a very short list of songs I actively dislike. How Do You, Lewis, that's about it.
I know they arent really bad songs, but I cant help but dislike the majority of AMSP. To the point that I dont know that I will ever listen to the full album again. Too many disappointed memories
Non-Radiohead fan here and AMSP is thus far the only record of theirs I can get into. And I've heard almost all of their stuff now. It seems more...I don't know...accessible? I hate saying that as if it's a good thing, but so far I see Radiohead's whole discog the same way Radiohead fans see King of Limbs. It's easier for me to appreciate than connect with. I know it's just a matter of time before I fall in love though. Something just has to click.
I really don't like Codex, it's like boring Radiohead by the numbers. I'd put Moon Pool almost exactly equal with In Rainbows on tier 2 (after Kid A, OKC, and Amnesiac). That group is like two 11/10s, a 9.5/10, and two 9/10s.
Yep. Also can't think of any Radiohead songs I actively dislike which is truly amazing for a band to accomplish imo. I've never listened to Pablo Honey though, and like some others, I probably never will
Not sure if something related to OK Computer's 20th anniversary is happening? These posters have been popping up in London, Amsterdam, Melbourne, etc. weird shit goin down • r/radiohead http://i.imgur.com/xH5rq2g.jpg
If there's anything I actively dislike, it might have to be "We Suck Young Blood." And even though I love The Bends overall, "Bones" and "My Iron Lung" are fairly annoying and skippable.
If Radiohead played OK Computer in full (or really any album in full) I'd absolutely fly to it, wherever it is.
That's an easy one for me: Give Up The Ghost. That acoustic guitar (which is basically the core of the song) is just such a throwaway idea in my opinion. Other than that, can't think of any other songs I actively dislike, but there a few I don't care for much, mostly from The Bends and TKOL. Those posters are veeeery intriguing indeed! Sceptical as always of album rumours, and B-sides also unlikely given the pretty clear OK Computer reference with the dates. But a special repressing could be on the cards perhaps?
the dates are the only thing that make me think OKC otherwise the content of that poster fits HttT quite nicely. but as we all know plenty of their material is politically charged
