Interesting. I still think I'll go chronologically but it'll be neat to see if my opinions match up with this at all.
I'd kind of agree with you but miss out Pablo Honey, I got into Radiohead through The Bends, and by the time you've completely absorbed that and OKC, you're probably ready to appreciate their less traditional rock stuff imo
Just finished Pablo Honey actually haha and starting The Bends. Very very different and more like what I was expecting based on their work that I've heard -- I thoroughly enjoyed Pablo Honey though.
Yeah tbf Pablo Honey isn't a bad album at all, but one you should probably go back to after having listened to at least a couple of their other albums. Just like wouldn't recommend it to friends as a starting point aha
First impressions on The Bends -- really liked it. Can't really give a lot of specific details, as I just had it on in the background, but I'm looking forward to digging into this more. Tracks that stood out to me in a positive way were the opener, closer, and Fake Plastic Trees.
I think it's so underrated, mainly because it's the closest to kind of standard alt rock and isn't as groundbreaking as the rest of their albums so it seems to get ignored. Every song is brilliant bar Bones imo, Black Star especially is one of their best.
The problem with The Bends is once you've absorbed OK, every time you try to listen to it you'll just throw OK on.
Yeah that's true tbf, however I'd say you kind of need to be in a certain and different mood to appreciate both of them separately. Like I couldn't just throw on Exit Music or Tourist in the same way you can for 15 Step or Bodysnatchers. Maybe that's just me though haha
In classic mysterious Radiohead fashion, no idea what this image is, but they just posted it all over their social media accounts:
Stanley posted this picture with the lyrics for what became The Numbers last year - possibly a single cover? Or just some artwork that's in the Special Edition idk
My guess is The Numbers single. They are notorious for "disc 2's" though so that would be cool. Either way I am perfectly happy with these magnificent 11 new songs.
