I might take a peek but not sure if Yorke solo is my thing at the moment honestly. really tempted to drop my next paycheck to see Crowded House tho lol
Thom Yorke's comments about this when Radiohead played there in 2017 were tone deaf as fuck but this might be even worse somehow? Such a shame as they were one of my favourite bands but I don't fuck with anyone saying this in 2024.
Jesus that was.... an article. She couldn't even be bothered to mention the words "Palestine" or "Palestinians" outside of a photo credit (which seems broken? It wasn't loading for me at least.) Also she comes off as sort of condescending almost with the whole "I'm pro peace, that shouldn't need saying but here we are." Piece feels real off, a shame.
Yeah the images were not loading for me either and the no mention of Palestine was…bad. Not a fan of how Jonny and now his wife are responding to this. Also I forgot that the band played in Israel in 2017 until I read @Carrow’s comment. I know Jonny is Israeli and there’s a lot of complex feelings with everything when it involves your own people/background/etc. but still, not great at all.
Oh so the images show up on the Haaretz website where the article was originally published, but you need to create a (free) account to see the article and pictures Targeting Radiohead: Why the boycotters demonizing Israelis and Jews won't silence me | Opinion
Damn, that’s a whole lot of words that aren’t the two words people are looking to hear from Radiohead et al.
If you can't say 'Free Palestine' with your whole chest after almost eight months of Palestinian genocide then you, your wife and your band can fuck off, Jonny.
it’s a terrible article and you won’t find me defending her but she’s literally born and raised from israel, i would be shocked if she didn’t feel that way
