I think I might like this more than In Rainbows. But nothing will top All I Need. That song is my jam
Realistically, with the hype already subsiding a tad... yeah, I think In Rainbows will come out slightly ahead of this in the long run. "Daydreaming" is as good as anything on that record to me, if not better. But once you get down to the 5th-10th best songs on each, IR pulls away a bit. I would say, in contrast to someone last page, that the lows here are lower - "Tinker," "Burn the Witch," and the new version of TLW are all borderline skippable to me. The rest is largely gold, though, even if some of the tracks aren't total classics. Having sought out live versions of these songs only after the record was released, I'm pleased with how most of them translated - but "Indentikit" is an exception. The key shift in the second half live really transformed the song into something more exciting, and I can't imagine why they did away with it.
there are at least 5 songs here that I will probably not be listening to very often anymore after some more time has passed
I definitely hear it, especially "Dollars & Cents." The similarity in the verses almost struck me as too much the first time I heard it.
This record is probably their best production wise, its an amazing piece of art, but I feel like it's lacking a few up tempo tunes to make it their best record. I actually took a break this weekend from it but will be resuming tomorrow
Burn The Witch / Spectre 7" will be here today. The prices that is fetching on eBay is ludicrous. Thankfully I found one through Amazon last week.
this debuted at #3 on the billboard charts, with their highest sales week since hail to the thief. they sold the most actual copies (173k) but with streaming drake and beyonce beat it out.
Did this do anywhere close to drakes or beyonces streaming numbers? because shit. I can't check myself
not even remotely haha. this got like less than a 10k unit bump from streaming, which equates to 1.5 mil streams, which is a fraction of a fraction of what drakes been doing and about a third of what beyonce is doing now
Beyonce's wasn't. No idea about Drake's because his music is crap imo and I haven't tried looking for it lol Think as Beyonce had hers only available for stream iirc coupled with a pretty scarily rabid fanbase meant lots of people streamed hers while the majority of Radiohead fans probably just bought the download/vinyl/whatever.
none of them were on spotify for the week and beyonce was only on tidal. breakdown for streaming rights would be: drake: apple music exclusive beyonce: tidal exclusive radiohead: apple and tidal, no spotify
"Spectre" is now on Apple Music/Spotify... they also added a bunch of B-sides/other stuff that had been taken down with the label switch.
Took a walk to this this morning. I might love Present Tense as much as I love Reckoner, and I think this album is as good as any of theirs.
This album is still getting plenty of listens from me. I love it, I can have it in the background or completely focus on it, but I just can't get enough of it.
After three listens, I'm in fucking love with this album. Daydreaming, Ful Stop, Glass Eyes, Identikit, and True Love Waits are all incredible songs, particularly TLW. I've always been more of a casual fan of this band though. I've been slowly going through their discography. I love Kid A and In Rainbows, both are amazing albums. Only other ones I've listened to are OK Computer and The Bends, but I haven't listened to either in probably three years now. However, this new album has me excited to dig into In Rainbows some more and start listening to the other notable albums I've missed.
Yeah I think that's gonna be the next one I check out tomorrow, followed by Hail To The Thief. I wanna listen to so much Radiohead now though. I feel a huge kick coming on, but I have work early tomorrow. I wanna listen to those two, I wanna listen to the new one, I wanna listen to In Rainbows again and revisit Kid A too. I honestly don't know what I'll want to start with tomorrow haha.
