Hard for me to narrow down my top artists of any genre, especially this one which has SUCH a diverse range of sounds and influences, but I’ll give this a shot. Ended up being way more than five, but oh well. Here it is in no particular order... Erykah Badu How to Dress Well Maxwell Blood Orange Mary J Blige Ginuwine JMSN D’Angelo Anderson .Paak Jeremih Janelle Monae this is also constantly changing because there is still so much of this genre that’s as of yet undiscovered by me
all-time?? er uh marvin gaye al green janet jackson eddie kendricks chaka khan imagination maxwell aaliyah erykah badu dawn richard yeah there was no way i could keep it to five
That Rochelle Jordan song came up on a daily mix and it's soooo goooood. That lane of, idk, house-influenced R&B(?) is right up my alley. Need a new Kelela record.
I’m more of an album rather than artist guy when it comes to R&B, but Mariah Carey is definitely one of my favorite artists of all time. Among the newer ones, I really love Kehlani.
All time D’Angelo Erykah Baduh Maxwell More recently Jamila Woods Kadjha Bonet Moses Sumney Erika de Casiar
This thread got me revisiting Maxwell’s discography and it’s seriously just impeccable. Embrya in particular is a hell of a mood, might be my fave of his.
Also shouts out to Jamila Woods. All her stuff is incredible, especially that last record. Also if her new album turns out as good as Ctrl, I might want to add SZA to my list.
found a rather underrated rnb artist recently, check out A.G. Sully's new album, really tasteful stuff
Hot take GOATS of forever and recent off the top of my head: -An artist I’m pretty sure is a pedophile and no longer praise- Boys II Men Marvin Gaye Jagged Edge 112 Keith Sweat Anderson .Paak Frank Ocean Usher Beyoncé The Weeknd Alicia Keys Ne-Yo (not only for his own work but the insane amount of hits he’s written)
Hahahahaha, ughghghgh; yeah I just entered the thread at page 1 and posted it there, without going all the way to the end and seeing if anyone posted it yet About halfway through it now; can't tell if I like it more than the 1st album, which I really liked
I gotta admit, I've always just found Leon Bridges solo stuff to be solid, but overall not super exciting or intriguing to me, but this is the first song of his that I really like.
