Looks great! Needs more contemporary female artists tho. Throw on some Erykah Badu, Bey, maybe some Janelle Monae, Jill Scott etc
Yeah, quite frankly that's a weakness of my own R&B knowledge, so I'd be open to replacing a couple contemporary tracks with female singers. Probably don't want it any longer though. Specific tracks you guys have in mind? Also trying to decide what to cut to make room.
Haha personally not sure if I consider them as "timeless" as some of the other stuff, but I guess others might disagree.
Didn't think of that one... ah well. Personally I consider her stuff more pop than R&B, although I know the line is blurry obviously.
Random but I have no clue have "Yoga" by Janelle Monae didn't become a bigger hit, that's such a great song.
The self titled beyonce record is one of the best R&B records of the decade, full stop. I can't see it right now but I assume Aaliyah is on there and if it isn't we have beef. Twigs, Cassie, Tinashe, Ciara, dawn Richard, jazmine Sullivan, the Internet too
I was gonna add an Aaliyah song actually haha... other stuff is gonna be tough because I'm keeping the modern stuff pretty minimal and it's already getting long.
If you're looking for modern female r&b, I have to recommend Banks. She's sort of similar to FKA Twigs, but a little poppier and sexier imo.
@beachdude42 looks like I am late, which is good because I don't really do too much of the disco era and '80s R&B. I mean, some of the stuff I listen to probably is R&B, but I have always associated it as pop lol. I do like some of the Motown stuff, but that is too early. I would definitely think Return of the Mac and Always Be My Baby should be on there. I see No Diggity was mentioned too, so that's good. I am curious to see your list. Maybe there is something important being left off.
