R&B Thread, I need your help. My best friend doesn't really know R&B so I'm trying to get him into the genre with a single playlist, ideally between 1-2 hours, with a mix of classic and more contemporary artists. I'm thinking of mostly going from the 70s til now. What are some essential artists/tracks I HAVE to include?? @Chaplain Tappman @cshadows2887 @Jacob Tender @Michael Schmidt @chris-wrecker @Letterbomb31 @cherrywaves @FrankOceansEleven @DeathOrGlory @OotyPa @Chase Tremaine @Gwen @St. Nate get ITT
@beachdude42 I'm not great at classics but these are a few of my picks off the top of my head. Tamia - So Into You Brian McKnight - Anytime Donnell Jones - Where I Wanna Be Usher - Burn Mariah Carey - We Belong Together Destiny's Child - Emotion Donnel Jones - U Know What's Up Joe - I Wanna Know Ne-Yo - Sexy Love Blackstreet- No Diggity
too many goodies ill end up naming all of my favorite tracks be sure to include some ja rule (and ashanti), missy elliot, nelly, and usher
I'm gonna have to include at least some R. Kelly once I get to the '90s. It's whatever, I still listen to him and so will others, no sense pretending he doesn't exist.
Here's my dilemna... what essential '80s artists should I include in absence of Prince? Spotify and YT both don't have Prince.
good track, not an all timer tho. gotta go with "yamaha" for terius probably you only named two r&b artists here
I never know what counts as R&B and what's funk and what's soul, etc. The Gap Band - either "Outstanding" or "You Dropped the Bomb on Me" Luther Vandross - "Never Too Much" Kool and the Gang - "Celebration" Janet Jackson - "What Have You Done for Me Lately" or "Escapade" Mtume - "Juicy Fruit" Roger - "I Wanna Be Your Man" Chakha Kahn - "Ain't Nobody" Marvin Gaye - "Sexual Healing" Teddy Pendergass - "Love T.K.O." George Benson - "Give Me the Night" Cameo - "Word Up" L.T.D. - "Stranger" Probably forgetting a lot or missing the genre/sound you're looking for.
Yeah Jacksons stuff is a must... not too familiar with Vandross honestly but I know he was biggest in the '80s... any essential tracks you'd recommend? I know some Diana Ross but mostly '70s stuff from my mom.
Almost done with a rough playlist and then I'm gonna tweak it and do a write-up for my website... thanks to everyone who turned this into a cool collaborative process! I'll share the rough playlist in a few, open to suggestions.
Yeah, sorry about that. I'm gonna be publishing it so I'll recreate it as much as possible on Apple Music and YT in a bit, but I'll probably wait til it's finalized.
