Very excited about this record. This guy makes experimental textured r&b that is hard to compare to anything else. His track Nerve for the Ages and his previous album from awhile back are also great- check those out
Can anyone please recommend me some good 90s R&b to check out? Other than Maxwell and D'Angelo, I haven't listened to much from that decade.
This is a very big question lmao Honestly, 90s R&B is amazing and must have been written about extensively. I really feel like just googling some lists would get you quite far in the beginning. This is a random start but I love Brandy’s Never Say Never to death and that is from 98 so you might as well!
A great 90s album that won’t be on many lists is Taytana Ali’s Touch The Sky Also Keith Sweat’s Still In The Game @Letterbomb31 I will just update you whenever some gem comes to mind, haha.
Was unsure if I should post No Diggity, as it seemed too obvious. But it’s also one of my favourite songs of all time, so fuck it...
There’s a song I had the single for when I was younger and I can’t remember for the life of me what it was called. Pretty sure it had Keith Sweat and Teddy Riley on it and the video involved American football in some way. If anyone could help me out, I’d be greatful haha EDIT: found it. I was wrong about Teddy being on it...
In case someone is looking for a new wormhole, why not a 65 hour long playlist on Japanese R&B? I can’t vouch for it, but like 65h has to be an expert’s effort.
YES Just yesterday morning I was listening to Utada Hikaru's Ultra Blue and thinking "I seriously need to listen to more J-music", so thanks
I used to check for Japanese rap and R&B in like 2004-2006 but I’m so out of the loop now. I know they still have a really dedicated scene though.
