Idk what happened to him, but I can't get into anything TheDream has released since the Terius Nash project. Didn't he used to be the go to producer/songwriter in the pop and r&b realm a decade ago as well?
I still listen to him though his stuff doesn’t feel as innovative as it used to. He still writes great songs imo.
I'm enjoying The-Dream's new project but it's all over the place in terms of consistency. I'll be able to trim it down to make a cool playlist though.
I'm done with Mariah's discography. She's incredible and now everything to me. Caution might be #3 or #2 on my AOTY list.
"All I Need" and "Code Blue" are both from the last couple years, so I know The-Dream still has it in him. I'm sure I'll find something in this project I'll dig.
Speaking of Keyshia Cole, remember when she made one of the greatest songs of all time as an "answer" to one of the greatest songs of all time? I remember. We need more Keyshia Cole in this world.
You guys need to check out this rerecorded JoJo debut album (“JoJo”).... it’s a really odd experience but also really cool
Listened to 6lack today. Kinda liked it. I think it’s because it reminded me of those early Weeknd tapes, which is the only time I’ve liked him.
First new D'Angelo song released since Black Messiah is out today. Also the new Elijah Blake album is very good. Catching up on it now.
I’ve been diving into this German R&B and Hip Hop subgenre born from the Turkish and Middle Eastern diasporas, which mixes R&B and rap with traditional sounds as well as German with Turkish/Arabic and has a lot of pathos. It doesn’t exactly have a name but some call it Habibi&B or R&Besk. It had some mainstream momentum when I was a teenager and I liked it a lot (I lived in the Rurhgebiet for a while, which is basically it’s prime target market), but more or less unbeknownst to me it’s kept on going once the hype died down, so I’m familiarzing myself with the new artists. Carry on.
