I hate every one of his songs, haha. Honestly there's a few Brian songs I like but I feel like any time they have anyone other than Freddy singing is a waste.
I mean I hate all the songs he sings lead. I like a good amount of the ones he wrote that Freddy sang.
I do like his vocal work on stuff like "Seaside Rendezvous" when he does background stuff, I just don't like his singing.
Don't know how I missed this thread, Queen is the first band I ever loved. Not sure the tour with Lambert (and Paul Rodgers before him) interests me much, but good on them to keep it going.
Finally got through listening to every album yesterday! Took a few years but it's a really solid run of stuff. Innuendo and Made in Heaven are surprisingly awesome actually
That's really good to hear. Always dread approaching the end of a band's run because there's little sadder than a great band out of gas.
Innuendo really holds up as a career ender, there's also some times that you can tell Freddie is fading thogh, which is kinda haunting, sad but uplifiting in a way, ya know? Made in Heaven is way better than it should be, glad it had Freddie's blessing to be made
I mean that can work. Hearing Zevon or Billie Holliday's vocal struggles on their last records adds a lot of gravity and feeling.
I dunno how I missed out on this thread, but here I am. I have a big project at work that I spent pretty much all day chipping away at, and spent most of the time listening to the Queen Rock Montreal and Live at Wembley Stadium live albums, and goddamn, what a privilege it must have been to see those shows in person. They were such a tight live band, and his vocal prowess and charisma were/are unmatched.
To add to the conversation about Freddie's waning voice as he became more sick, I think he was sick during Live at Wembley Stadium but he soldiers through it like a fucking champ.
I don’t know why it’s taken me 25 years to listen to a Queen album in full but wow, A Night at the Opera is every bit the masterpiece people say it is. I’m surprised how heavy they could get and May’s tone is impeccable.
I LOOOOVE the harmonized guitar solo at the end of “Lazing On a Sunday Afternoon”. You’re right, his tone is amazing. The album as a whole is incredible.
