I have the same year but a different engine. I agree with you on the look. It will age well in ten years imo. I haven't had any issues yet but I make sure to keep up with the maintenance. Get's really good mileage and actually has a lot of power for an economy car.

The 2016, 2017, 2018 models all come standard with the 1.4T engine (the one I have). The 1.8T is just a bigger engine with more power. Still get's similar fuel economy to the 1.4T.

@K0ta if you're buying a used vehicle, I would 100% try to get something that's certified pre-owned. You should be able to find jettas and civics in your price range that are CPO.

 

just make sure you get a great steering wheel that doesn't fly off when you're driving

 

and make sure there's no room for your mother-in-law

It's such a sick irony that my father (who is struggling a lot right now with a buncha things I'd rather not talk about) always ends up inserting himself into my life at the most frustrating times but at times when his help is also appreciated. He'll probably help me car shop because I can't do it on my own and his help is appreciated but I always have to toe this weird line between letting him help and holding him at arms length.
