I get that it does too and I’ve certainly been there, however ever since middle school I have always made an effort to make this day special for reasons beyond romantic relationships, because I believe that focusing on that is better for you mentally than ruminating on sadness. but I also think there’s a HUGE difference in it making people DEPRESSED and it making people SAD. One is a mental health issue that could be deadly and one is a normal emotion that is healthy to feel that everyone feels.
im not making a judgement call on who’s depressed and who’s just sad bc that’s not my place but I DO feel like people have kind of lost grasp on the concept that things can be upsetting and saddening without it being “triggering” or “depressing” etc

I hope I’m making sense.
