This was the only show I was looking forward to coming up. This sucks.

 

They're encouraging victims to talk to their abuser? What the eff is wrong with this band? Gross band. They also sound like shit.

 

Damn. This just keeps looking worse and worse.

 

Apparently they cancelled their record release show. So things are pretty bad in their camp but knowing that they tried to keep this quiet for 3 months, to hell with them

 

The DIY scene in Chicago is toxic like it is everywhere else. I've known and still know some terrible people who do really shitty things and get idolized by the scene. It's why I'm not involved anymore. I've equated "Defend Pop Punk" and it's partner beliefs like that of DIY to basement dwelling Trump supporters.

 

Mind explaining this? I'm unfamiliar with that incident/band.

i skimmed through it briefly and i saw some weird things but i want to give it a longer read later

 

Yeah too much of it seems to call into the question the legitimacy of their queerness, which is gross, and the quality of their music, which is irrelevant. Discussion of the commodification of queerness by corporations is a worthwhile discussion, but I don't think it applies or is particularly appropriate here.
