I adore crossword puzzles, Mental Floss, Jeopardy and Sporcle. Facts, trivia, and general knowledge will always be what drives me on any given day. My brain endlessly likes being teased, haha. Anybody else like that around? If so, this is home for you now. Please, let's all share our favorite puzzles and games, talk about cool random facts and whatnot.
I just found out the other day through a sweet Ken Burns doc that the term 'teetotaler' came about from a movement called Total Abstinence during the prohibition era. They just duplicated the T sound. Thought that was kind of cool.
I also really have been loving playing Set on the NYT website lately. http://www.nytimes.com/crosswords/game/set/
Sudoku is fun I play it on my phone when I'm out in public with nothin to do. Physics problems are great puzzles.
I like Sudoku and Crosswords of course. I've also been playing a mobile game called Alphabear, which is about spelling words with a given set of letters.
We used to play this in college (with the actual cards) where you have to find them as fast as possible, and there'd always be that one friend who grabbed the sets immediately before anyone else could even process what cards were there. The games got very heated. We were also usually drinking, so.
Holy shit. My win percentage is only 11% lol. I'm going to credit a lot of that to the games I played before I understood the game.
Anybody play any board games? Because these are must-own games for anybody who likes tabletop gaming. The accessibility of party games but with really clever, tough premises. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00363B5FC/?tag=absolutepunk-20 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B014Q1XX9S/?tag=absolutepunk-20
Here's a really fun trivia question: How many total candles are lit during the eight days of Hanukkah?
I bought a Monopoly app because that's the only way I could play it. Makes me laugh now when I think about it.
What's great about that concept is you can totally just cut up some paper, choose words, make a grid and do it yourself. Doesn't work quite as well but it gets the point across.
