What criteria are we using? Bar for bar? Most culturally resonant? Most innovative? Pusha isn't even the best rapper on the Clipse records lol
Push > Malice come on, I thought that was universally established I don't care for culturally resonant (at least in this conversation) who is the best DOOM Push CanOx (first album) I mean... come on I don't really care for K Lamar, before you bring him up
Pusha overall > Malice overall but Malice dominated the Clipse records Pusha is my favorite but he's far from the best or greatest
Pusha T is among my favorites for his delivery but I wouldn't make the claim that he's the best alive
Never understood the argument over who's the best rapper alive. I like different rappers for different reasons. Why does there have to be a single best?
It's an ingrained discussion in hip-hop culture and always will be. Everyone wants to be the best and everyone else wants to debate the best. Even though objectively Andre 3000 or Kendrick is the best rapper alive
I mean, I understand why people talk about it... it just seems a little belittling to the genre to do so. Why not discuss your favorite rapper instead of the "best" rapper? I dunno...
Competition has been embedded in hip-hop forever. It's a fun conversation to have, even though a lot of people take it too seriously. Lupe had an interesting discussion on with his followers on Twitter the other day about this topic. Anyways, excited for new Pusha.
Best rapper alive? I mean, Wayne still exists. That's his title. Not Push. Like the "literal" best rapper alive is prob like Rakim lol. If we're talking best, most interesting active rappers then take your pick of Thug, Gucci, Ka, YG, Kendrick...Push might not even be top ten. Which says more about how incredible the current climate is than anything else.
