Needed to Hear It is the most Morbid Stuff sounding song here, I love it

I’m liking this but am not blow away by it. They have always been so good with melody. I do think it’s a little too fuzzy.

I don’t know what I want from this band. I don’t know how much them I want to evolve but I’m getting a little bored because they haven’t evolved. I don’t even want to listen to the new album much because I’d rather go back and listen to The Dream is Over or Morbid Stuff. Not that the new one’s bad or anything.

My only real complaint is that the lyrics alternate between pretty good and a bit rote, punctuated with lots of stock phrases and f-bombs.

  5. man this album would have gone so hard in my early 20s after breakups haha. it still rips hard, but it's a little different listening to it while cleaning the house with my wife than it would be alone in my apartment back in the day. band doesn't miss.

The pearl clutching over the fuzziness is giving me the biggest kick.

Safe to say I fucking love this album and yeah the fuzz is a feature to me now. The album actually sounds really good (which makes sense because Congleton rules).

The fuzz works so well with the bass tone here, it’s massive. I think it works well with their general sound and aesthetic too.

I don’t think there’s a single song on here that I don’t like. The entire album has been a grower for me.

On first listen, I found it a bit hit and miss but still enjoyable. The first two songs do nothing for me, but the third track, Concrete, is great. Then I wasn’t bothered by Get Dumber or Hunger For Death either and I was feeling pretty disappointed.

The second half or so is excellent though. Every song from Needed To Hear It, which is my favourite, is an absolute smash. Hallways is absolutely fucking massive. Falling Out Of Love would have hit me like a truck in previous relationships. Best Revenge is already a classic PUP song, too.

Will definitely be replaying this and hoping the first half grows on me.

I like this album so much more than unraveling upon the first few listens. Pup rules

Yeah just the most 6.75/10 album I’ve heard in a while and I’m ok with that!

After a few listens it’s still not clicking. Lots of mid tempo songs that don’t really stand out with how incredible their catalog is. Hoping it’s a grower. But it’s a solid 6/10 for me

  21. Might just be right place/right time but this is my current AOTY

Yeah my only complaint is that Shut Up should be a minute or two longer. Absolutely love what they’re doing on that one and it literally bums me out whenever it ends.

Shut Up is the most redundant song on the album so for me it's actually too long. I'm fine being the norm on that though.

I think I hoped to like this album more on first listen, but I think it still rules. I do wonder if there could be improvements in sequencing as the flow feels inconsistent; olive garden feels weird as a second track, but also feels like it is not a fully formed song either. Overall on par with the rest of their discography and does feel like a progression and is a good mix between unraveling and morbid.

  25. Really love about half of this ("Concrete" and "Hallways" especially) and I expect the rest will grow on me with repeated listens.
