It's all PUP - hard to imagine a fan disliking it, but easy to imagine this ranking 3rd or 4th for some. I'm not sure where it's landing among the others but I like it a lot. 2nd listen, starting "Habits" like 'ahh I get it.'
I thought about this quote from Stefan in the BrooklynVegan interview... "I don't wanna give the impression that I don't grapple with mental health at this point -- I still very much do -- but I think when we were writing Morbid Stuff I was in a much darker place personally, literally incapable of facing most days. Like, incapable of getting up and seeing my bandmates and moving forward with life. And I think now I'm in a very different emotional place personally, but of course that doesn't completely go away."
Forgot Peter Katis produced this one. He's had my attention ever since the 1st Frightened Rabbit record and it's cool he brings these bands to him in Conncticut!
If there’s one disappointment it’s that it’s basically only 10 tracks and we’ve already heard 4 of them. Jealous of you that held off, you’re in for a treat!
You’ve gone from not having heard the record and begging for a leak to preaching about it in less than 8 hours. HIGH HOPES, we have.
I’d say this is still dark just from a different perspective / I’m excited to share my interview soon
Listened through once while working so missed a lot but is cutting off the corners the best song they’ve ever written?
damn. my record actually showed up today before the release date. first time that's happened since the pandemic started.
checked the tracking on my shipment and it went from Maine down to New Jersey and won't be here until Monday now. I live in NH about 1.5hr from Maine where it was
I've seen some people on IG with the record already. Can't wait to listen to it first thing tonight! I have only listened to two singles this far, and loved both (especially after a few times).
I don't really want another simillar album, so I'm excited for some new elements, also really excited for Pete Katis's production work on this, not only having the classics in mind like The National, Interpol (mostly Frightened Rabbit as well of course), but some of his most recent work on the latest The Get Up Kids album, which I really loved!
Yeah, this album rules. I've loved "Waiting" since they first released it but wasn't super into Robot or Matilda at first. For some reason though "Totally Fine" kind of "unlocked" those two for me, especially hearing all 3 in a row, and now I love them both. The rest of the album is great too, I especially love the closer and what they did with the "Four Chords" tracks.
Received my vinyl in the mail a few days ago, but I haven't had a chance to spin it yet. Excited for tomorrow.
