My vinyl doesn't arrive till next Wednesday, when i'll be out of town until the following weekend, but prob will end up listening tomorrow
Man, I don’t know why I didn’t get into the singles but I really dig this as a whole, it’s so much fun!
One spin done. Love the first half. Warmish on the second half. That almost certainly means it will be my favorite after many listens. It's delightfully weird and I feel like it I want to hear it in full, like a one-act play.
not loving it! surprised but pleased that everyone else is, at least. I guess part of it is having heard four songs already. Sound seems quite murky, vocals hard to hear at times for me. It's the Habits/Cutting off the Corners/Grim Reaping section that's not doing anything for me at the moment
A few of these songs remind me of Single Mothers which is one of my favorite bands. Digging this a bunch.
my god this album is perfect lol like the run from waiting - habits - cutting off the corners - grim reaping is so good
I can't decide if "Waiting" is totally brilliant or if it's just kind of a checklist of ideal PUP song elements, but I don't care, it gets me GOING. Yeah I'm definitely finding this one duskier than at first blush! Looking forward to that interview... I think what I was originally surprised to not hear was something that hit me the way tracks like "Yukon" or "The Coast" or "Pine Point" do, but I don't know if a song like that would necessarily benefit this record at any point in the sequence so I'm definitely no longer missing it.
My only complaint is that “Kill Something” somehow didn’t make this record. Imo the best song of these sessions besides “Habits”. Plenty of room too.
First listen was okay. I liked the individual songs (Habits and Cutting Off the Corners were especially good), but I’m not sure it worked for me as an entire album. We’ll see how I feel about it a day or two from now.
Disappointed that the other four chords tracks are nothing …def don’t need those on the album . Great album other than that
