Sza is probably my least favorite of the consensus top 10. TWOD also did nothing for me Vince is my favorite of them but Sampha, Lorde, and St Vincent are all great too
SZA is great. Kelela is better but I don't feel like getting into the argument about how we shouldn't keep pitting them against each other
St Vincent album did nothing for me, Lorde I liked more on relisten but still wouldn't make a top 50 for me, SZA is really good but I didn't expect it to be a consensus top 5 or anything. Big year for TDE.
i don’t think saying a record by one artist is better than a record by another artist in the same genre is putting them against each other but i get the delicacy of the topic and not wanting to dive into it
Out of the five mentioned, yeah. Don’t like Lorde, St Vincent, LCD as full albums but all have great tracks
The sza love seems predictable based on how much that record blew up in mainstream circles and how well it fits into the archetypal acclaimed record in this current time. Reminds me of the trajectory of the Solange record
Oh yeah I’d take The National and Vince over the ones I mentioned, Kendrick is still the highest for me though. Wasn’t clear, blame me not you
Not saying you specifically, I've just seen a bunch of people hyping out Kelela by saying how much better it is than SZA's album.
Glad to see Smino this high, and Choker mentioned at all (even tho this was the site where I heard about him in the first place), but yeah, predictable top spots.
